About The Central Library


The Central Library of Maharaja Suhel Dev University, Azamgarh, was established on 11 March 2025 and inaugurated by the respected Madam Governor of Uttar Pradesh. Located in the university’s administrative building, the library now boasts a magnificent centrally-located, two-storeyed structure equipped with all modern facilities and a seating capacity for approximately 200 users.

The library houses a rich collection of over 12,000 resources, including books, periodicals, reference materials, and journals. In addition to its print collection, the library has implemented advanced technologies to support digital access, catering to the academic needs of students and faculty alike.

It offers open access to a wide range of e-resources, databases, and repositories covering diverse academic disciplines such as science, social sciences, humanities, arts, and law. The Central Library has also signed MOUs with selected repositories and provides remote access to databases and anti-plagiarism tools.

The library serves the academic and research needs of students, faculty, non-teaching staff, and research scholars from affiliated colleges.

The Central Library Aims To:

  • Build effective relationships with students, faculty, and researchers for better service delivery
  • Curate, organize, and preserve resources in all formats, supporting academic excellence

  • Ensure effective information resource management and promote usage
  • Empower users through workshops, exhibitions, and user awareness programs
  • Offer services Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Remain closed on second Saturdays, national/gazetted holidays, and university-declared holidays
Library Sections:
  • Acquisition Section: Handles procurement of recommended resources. Located on the first floor. Not open to general users.
  • Circulation Section: Manages issuing/returning of books. Located at the main entrance. Timings: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Technical Section: Responsible for cataloging and classification. Located on the first floor.
  • Reference Section: Houses non-issuable items like encyclopedias and annual reports, available for in-library use only.
  • Display/Exhibition Section: Displays newly added books. Located on the first floor.
  • Theses Section: Contains dissertations and research work submitted to the university.
  • Periodicals Section: Hosts subscribed magazines and newspapers for current awareness.
  • Computer Section: Houses servers, scanners, and manages digital infrastructure. Located on the first floor.
Library Event Section:

To engage users and promote its resources and services, the Central Library regularly organizes various events and activities such as talks, workshops, awareness programs, and exhibitions.
